March 5, 2009 New York

Walk to Comfort Dinner by the Amish Market. Another good breakfast. Take bus down 2nd Ave to 34 street. Take cross town to 8th Ave. Walk to B & H Photo. Very cool store. Loads of staff. By something and get a slip. Take slip down to checkout, pay for it and pick it up. The items get sent via a track system. Bought a tripod.

Walk to Macy's. Harry and I went to Madison Square Garden while Heidi and Elsie stayed in Macy's. Took bus down Broadway to Union Square. Walk to the Strand. Heidi bought a couple books and I got one. Walk around the block and find Trader Joe's. Line up to pay went down the aisles!

Bus down 3rd Ave. The number M103 was long in coming. Got off at Delancy and walk to Mott and blah and eat at Umbertos Clam House - Italian restaurant. All stuffed and tired, we walked back to Bower street and waited and waited and waited for the M103. We vowed never to travel the M103 again.

Relaxed, tried my tripod and drank some beer and wine.

I detect a keen eye.

Some classic photos there--the mangled bike, the charming chimney stack in front of the bland concrete tower block behind, starkly juxtaposed by the unique compression of perspective of a telephoto lens.

The two of you aren't tourists, but explorers.

All my best,
'5th'.

(But I knew that anyway--from The Zoo)
